Released shortly after the Curve 8530, BlackBerry Bold 9700 boasts a lineage more professional. Compared to his grandfather 9000, he lost 6 millimeters in width and length and even ten grams. IPhone is a shorter but thicker than the latter.
More significantly, his “magic ball” or “pearl” navigation disappears in favor of mini touchpad. This change benefits the speed and overall comfort of the device. Moreover, the new pointing device avoids clogging problems which his predecessors had suffered.
The back of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 features a leather-like surface, which reinforces its premium positioning and prevent slipping on smooth surfaces. The left side is equipped with a microphone input jack, microphone jack of a USB (for charging and syncing) and a voice command button. On the other hand, we find the classical volume buttons and camera.
RIM did not revolutionize its flagship terminal, it has improved rather slowly. The screen of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 boasts a superb visibility always with a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. The keyboard, despite its cramped (even smaller than the Bold 9000), remains THE reference mechanical keyboards with keys slightly curved.
Inside, the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 makes no obvious changes. There is always the GPS, and Wi-Fi for example.
The 3G (HSDPA 3.6 Mbps) is faster than 3G, BlackBerry OS 5.0 is more user-friendly BlackBerry App World is slowly catching up on other portal applications (App Store, Android Market …) but all these innovations were already present in the Curve 8520 (except for 3G), sold a few months earlier.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is democratized so with multimedia features of the range Curve. Worse. The internal memory is also lowered with only 256 MB (1024 MB cons on the Bold 9000).
Fortunately, a microSD memory card is provided. It will serve mainly to store pictures taken with the 3.2 megapixel camera (with a better definition than the Bold 9000).
In practice, this text contains still more advantages than disadvantages although it differs little from the Curve 8530 (except for the 3G/3G and the screen), less expensive. Its endurance (push 24/24) peaks at about 7 days.
The terminal remains excellent for managing your mails and surf live comfortably.
