Customer Reviews :

This is my second Blackberry obtained by T-Mobile discount for an upgrade (now available through Amazon). My first BlackBerry was offering T-Mobile curve (I think the 8320 may be useful to provide context for this review and for the first time smart phone buyers). The last time I bought a phone, I was just looking for a phone of very high quality, and the 8320 certainly delivered. However, over time I gradually more and more intelligent functions of the phone until 2009, I was totally addicted. While 8320 was great as a phone, a limited memory and a processor made painfully slow to use for certain applications – and impossible for more than a handful of applications.

So this time around my goal was to create a smartphone that makes sense to use my current desired gain. Here are my requirements:

low costs
great phone (sound quality, speakerphone, speed dial, coverage options, trembling, international use, etc.)
Alternative accommodation if necessary (UMA femtocell or WiFi)
Large e-mail (Gmail and to manage)
Sync contacts / calendar with Google and works seamlessly with Google and elsewhere
Works transparently with other applications I use a lot of clouds (Evernote, box, etc.)
Media player with 3.5mm jack
Camera of sufficient quality to be used in combination with Evernote OCR
Easy to use (configuration, speed of the camera, shortcuts, etc.)
popular model with many accessories available
Longer battery life
enough memory, so I do not
It feels good in your hand
To load by introducing a crib
Fix possible (preferably Bluetooth)

Optional but nice :

great browser
Maps
Turn by turn navigation (preferably free)

The 9700 T-Mobile offers a very in most of my needs, and surpasses the 8320 in almost all respects with a wide margin. One by one:

Cost: managed to keep my contract acquired T-Mobile Blackberry 40/month for voice (1000 anytime and unlimited nights / weekends) or 20 per month for unlimited data (no text / SMS). Our family has a home service for a hotspot to provide additional 10/month unlimited domestic routes call home. And a AAA discount of 12% discount on the law – so it’s much cheaper than we could find for these services than any other airline. On the other hand, for users who need a few minutes of voice, data heavy, loose, and no home phone, the iPhone with AT & T may only be slightly higher costs.

Phone: Great – almost 8320 were amazing too. I think the quality that I call the experience better than using an average phone with a landline (wired or wireless). The internal speaker and a better quality but lower volume – so perhaps more difficult to hear in noisy conditions, even if earphones or headphones can be used in such circumstances. Get alternative UMA also works well on the 9700 he 8320. The speaker quality is so good I often use it for music as I am not in the size of my headphones – while obviously not as good as you get a high quality headphones, it is best as President, I have heard of a mobile phone – and I thought that 8320 has been good.

E-mail, Google Apps Built in e-mail feature is great, but is not suitable for IMAP Gmail if I downloaded the Google Mobile App, then the individual components Sync Gmail and maps. Gmail and cards in circulation, Sync is sufficient. The search function of Google Mobile App voice is incredibly useful in many ways I could write several pages on a function (see what happens when you vote search for “Phillies” or “Black Widow” or do “March 1911″ … ). Using Gmail to leave “push” email (checks every 20 minutes or if I force it to “refresh”), but also more – including the possibility of G-mail search very quickly. None of this is different from 8320 – except that everything is much faster – and I can use cards without restarting the phone to the memory back. Google Reader icon simply invokes the BlackBerry browser and Google Reader feeds – and it is so small that it is unusable. I realize that I could use Google Reader reasonably well with the browser BOLT (I had to download and then 3 times the police to Great). I also use Google to voice mail to replace T-Mobile voice and it works fine if you wait a few minutes to voice messages and copies appear on your phone. Of course, all these things work much better on Android and the iPhone, but with the exception of Google Reader, they are very good on the Blackberry.

Other Cloud Apps Unfortunately, BlackBerry is harder to develop for the iPhone (and possibly Android), partly because there are so many BlackBerry models (too much, in my humble opinion). The result that Evernote for iPhone is fantastic, so it is reasonable to 9700 and frankly primitive to 8320. The screen is bigger and the browser is better and faster on the 9700 (OS 5) was the 8320 (OS 4.5), which is why I actually started using to search for Evernote within the application and displays the note with The word in the browser – it takes 5-10 seconds, but it works. The 8320 was too slow to be useful. Dropbox is no client for Blackberry, but it must leave at the end of 2010. Roboform is a customer that is not primitive Blackberry Wireless Sync – I manually copied my card from time to time. Blackberry is an important platform, so I think these applications over time to improve, but they will still trail the iPhone.

Media Player – Media Player functions (MP3, photos, videos, voice notes, etc.) works just as good as done with the 8320 – there were probably change, but I did not notice them. However, the Pandora application runs much better on the 9700 than the 8320 because of the risk of a combination of 3G and a faster processor. In 8320, the application is interrupted frequently in areas with low coverage and tended to stop in the middle of a song and go to the next opportunity.

A quality camera – I’m a big fan of Evernote, but the camera has not been able to get 8320 pictures from plain text format that can be recognized as a text by taking OCR is Evernote. Specifications 9700 better camera and it turned into Evernote with my first attempts. I found that with intense light at a distance of at least 11 inches away, I could pictures of restaurant menus and take Evernote has been able to index more words in the picture. I will therefore have access to the menus of our favorite restaurants in Evernote time I take pictures of everyone. This can be done with cards, wine bottles, whiteboards. . .

Convenience – This is where the Blackberry falls flat. It took me many hours of violin master of the use of 8320. While most of the knowledge transferred to the 9700, it took many hours on the phone to configure it as I downloaded applications, preferences, etc. The iPhone is way better in this respect and for a heavy user of Google services, like me is as Android, everything I read. Menus preferences were moderately better equipped than the 8320, which helped some. But here are some questions:

1) The shopping experience is frustrating Apps (ie Quick Pull is an application that worked in 8320 and has appeared in the App Store, 9700 when I installed it froze my system – why it seems Is all as it has not been updated for the 9700?). Installing apps was sluggish and must be re-booted. Some applications are not in the App Store (Google Mobile App, Bolt, etc..)

2) Profiles of the System of Preferences alert is powerful, and slightly easier to use than the 8320, but still complex.

3) The initial placement of icons on the screen of the phone was so heavy (including links to many unnecessary applications promoted by T-Mobile), I was a good time to reorganize so that they can I find were just what I wanted.

On the positive side, there are many useful shortcuts available on BlackBerry. I especially like for each letter assigned to a speed dial key, so I use the first letter of the name home telephone numbers for speed dial, and the first letter of the surname Cell phone speed dial. As you learn the shortcuts, the phone is very easy to use, much faster than a computer for certain things.

Popularity – Blackberry generally among the most popular brands of smartphone and 9700 in particular seems to be a great success. In a few months there will be a flood of accessories, but the phone is so new that not too. Many applications are not yet updated for the 9700 or 5.0.0.330 the operating system that powers the phone. It is harder to write applications Blackberry, iPhone, so I expect to have more and better and more timely applications, and probably Android, as well as the platform matures.

Batteries / Memory – Battery life is very good – I have not been able to more than 30% of the battery to use in one day, despite a large number of the violin, synchronizes in the background, the use of Pandora etc. There is enough memory for applications that I do not have to worry. This is a big improvement over 8320, a handheld that was in theory but in practice the memory is limited to less than a dozen applications, and requires a constant violin in memory management when you “as that. However, as applications developers to begin the volume of applications increase, it is easy for me to 256MB still a problem a few years from now imagine…
