I use my Palm Pre from the day it went on sale back on 06.06.2009, and most of the time I am very impressed and happy with the phone. There are things that prevent me from having to give a five-star full and I’ll cover these below.

The first thing I noticed when I finally got my hands in the paddock was how “natural” it felt. I detest his corny in a magazine, but it really has a sense almost organic / natural. When the screen is the face of the device has a solid black, shiny that attracts the eyes. I have several friends and colleagues told how they look in the phone.

The case has minimal buttons black look, the volume buttons on the left, the power and ringer switch on the right above and select the button below. That is, without further control until you slide the phone face to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. Speaking of the slide, it works for me great! I read on various boards how some people have problems with them, but with mine it works as good as the first day I got the phone. Halfway through the spring loading mechanism kicks in the keypad lock to open and did the same when closing the slider.

The 3.2MP camera on the back of the phone takes some of the best photos I have seen on a mobile phone, but still not come close to replace a real digital camera. Instead, I found it better to break photos on those times when you or your digital camera is not handy (or do not) or if you have not time for a camera. There is an LED flash, but it is not really much further than about 3 meters. There is no control to select different camera flash, AUTO or OFF. That’s it. Zoom, or even the white balance would have been nice. On some pictures there is a little purple fringing, depending on lighting conditions.

The real star of the phone right now is probably a link between the browser and the synergy of all functions of your contacts and calendars together. The browser is fast, even on EVDO and Wi-Fi bad. It is treated almost everything I’ve thrown at it and then some. A draw back is that you can not download files through the browser. Adobe Flash is expected to support the market around October browser before. Synergy characteristics sync your Outlook, Gmail, Facebook, and information on the phone “stacking” duplicate the same contact as synchronizing your calendars on both Facebook and Google. He came in quite handy on several occasions to date.

Palm and Sprint are several applications on the phone when they ship. Sprint TV is the best on this unit, I have not seen, and it is my smartphone into fourth position with Sprint since February 2008. Also included in the mix for Sprint is their program Telnav, NASCAR, and a recent update their OS NFL Live app. Palm pre-loaded Google Maps and the Amazon.com MP3 store. One problem I have with Amazon MP3 Store is that you buy your music, but can not download it before until you are near a Wi-Fi GPS acquisition in one of the applications use it, or pre-loaded or third add-on is the fastest I’ve ever seen on a phone. Scary fast!

As with any smartphone, there are some disadvantages associated with pre and is no exception.

Battery life is better on the field since the first three days through the OS updates and breaking the battery in time, but it’s still not so close to where it should. Fortunately, I have a laptop battery that is loaded into my bag, so I can not pre daytime up if I do not have access to an outlet. At this point, I really do not know if Palm can do little to improve battery life and I have a feeling that I am not looking to get a spare battery or an extended one at some point in the future.

The day before the sale, there were 18 applications available in the catalog App on the aircraft. In the first seven days of that number jumps to 30 applications, and then stopped until the last week of July when there were two added. The homebrew community is now almost 100 applications available, and growing almost daily. I hope that Palm gets a crack to get more applications and asked if I could be the only thing that all WebOS Pre and show. Of course, you can pay $ 30 for Classic app before most Palm OS applications to run, but for me it’s a shame. Palm should stick to the front instead of offering it as an add-on pay option, or at least the price was about $ 10. The biggest limitation I ran in the Classic environment will not recognize any other file type that China and VOB files. This means that if you have a program that can read from other types of files such as Mobipocket Reader (. MOBI) such programs can not “see” these files. It is a glaring omission here!

I like the Palm Pre and I love it, because I can see how many possibilities of this new Palm platform. In the future I hope that Palm can some of these failures to address through updates to the operating system and increasing the number of applications available for download. That said, I must admit that when I was back on June 6 known what I know now about the platform, I’d put a little more with either my old HTC Touch Diamond or BB Curve 8330. I paid full price for the unit in a Sprint store, but I’m an upgrade due in February 2010 and the Pre has a number of improvements I can not leave this phone to another thing. However, six months into the future and therefore requires more applications available and many more OS updates, I’m ready to have stabbed a little longer.
